Kory K. Shimek – Attorney and Owner
Kory K. Shimek was born and raised the beautiful Leelanau County, MI, home of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore – the most beautiful place in America. He learned the value of hard work at an early age, working every year on his family’s cherry farm. Kory attended Glen Lake High school where he played varsity football and basketball. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship from Davenport University in August 2010. Kory received his Juris Doctor in January 2014 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School with Cum Laude honors. While in law school Kory worked as a paralegal specializing in bankruptcy and family law. Kory opened Shimek Law Firm in May of 2014, and has handled hundreds of cases in multiple areas of the law since then. He has a wide variety of litigation experience, and has handled cases in Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw, Lenawee, Macomb, Oakland, Livingston and Newaygo Counties. When not practicing law, Kory enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Jennifer and their daughter Madison. He also enjoys and very much appreciates spending as much time as he can in the outdoors while hiking, running, biking, fishing, hunting, and camping.
Lora McParland-Savoie – Attorney
Lora A. McParland-Savoie was born and raised in Michigan. She graduated high school in Taylor, MI. After graduation she attended Baker College of Allen Park where she earned an Associate’s degree focused in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelors of Business Administration. Lora then went on to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Ann Arbor, MI. She worked full time as a Deputy Court Clerk at two District Courts while completing her education. While in law school, Lora worked as a Judicial Intern for the Hon. J. Cedric Simpson, she also conducted reviews for the Guardianship Review Project, and participated in several mock trials. Lora had the honor of being the keynote speaker for the 2017 John F. Kennedy high school graduation commencement ceremony, and has participated as a mentor to students who attended a Michigan Supreme Court session at a local high school, as part of the Supreme Court’s Community Outreach Program. Lora has a wide variety of litigation experience, and has handled cases in Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw, Macomb, and Oakland counties. Lora enjoys spending time with her family, attending her children’s sporting events, and traveling when not practicing law. She also enjoys participating in local community activities and giving back to the community.
